International Conference on Hybrid and Organic Photovoltaics

On 28th June we welcomed over 400 leading researchers in hybrid and organic photovoltaics from around the world to our Bay Campus for the 8th International Conference on Hybrid and Organic Photovoltaics

This was the first time the prestigious international conference had been brought to the UK and demonstrates that Swansea is a key global centre for the development of hybrid and organic photovoltaic technologies.

During the three day event, which was sponsored by Swansea University and its SPECIFIC Innovation and Knowledge Centre, poster displays filled the streets of our Engineering Quarter and the prestigious Great Hall provided the backdrop for a packed programme of workshops and talks covering all the very latest advances in photovoltaics from material synthesis and processing to functional and structural characterisation and scale up and commercial development.

The event was chaired by Professor James Durrant, Imperial College London and Sêr Cymru Research Chair at Swansea University; Professor David Worsley from SPECIFIC Innovation and Knowledge Centre, Swansea University; and Professor Henry Snaith from Oxford University.

Keynote addresses were presented by Richard Friend of the University of Cambridge, Karl Leo of Technische Universitaet Dresden, Germany and Ayodhya N. Tiwari from Swiss Federal Laboratories for Material Science and Technology in Switzerland.
